Austerity Measure Of British Conservative Government Hits Nepal Project

Issue 29, July 18, 2010

By KTM Metro Reporter

July 11, 2010: the first victim of the budget-cut campaign of the new British conservative Government led by Mr. Cameron has been the Financial Sector Technical Assistance Project (FSTAP) launched with the joint funding of the Department for International Development (DFID): British agency for implementing development projects and The World Bank (WB) in Nepal. The British government has started slashing down a number of foreign aid projects across the world to reduce its budget deficit.

The nepalnews.com has reported that the Central Bank of Nepal called Nepal Rastra Bank is in the process of hiring CEOs for the troubled Nepal Bank Ltd (NBL) and Rastriya Banijya Bank (RBB) with the assistance of DFID and WB but the news of slashing the budget for assistance by the DFID has put them in confusion.
