Encroachment on Nepalese Territory

On Saturday, June 13, 2009, speaking at the press conference held at Lamahi of the Dang District, Coordinator of all-party Monitoring Committee and Chairman of National Interest Conservation Committee of the Constituent Assembly Amik Sherchan after inspecting the 22 entry points and the border areas, and interacting with the displaced people has confirmed the encroachment on the Nepalese territory, the harsh treatment of the Nepalis by the Indian Security Force and the India Armed Groups on the border areas, and the Indians have dug a long trench of 3’ wide and 3’ depth in the no-man’s land area according to the news published in the ‘Gorkhapatra’ of June 14, 2009. The team has been in the field from June 9 to 12, 2009 for the border area inspection.

Mr. Sherchan has said that the team will submit a report on the border inspection to the government then the government needs to resolve the problems of the people living in the border areas and the encroachment on the Nepalese territory through diplomatic means.
