Issuing A Warrant For Arresting Parshuram Basnet

July 7, 2011: the Morang District Court yesterday has issued a warrant for arresting Parshuram Basnet a cadre of Youth Association Nepal (YAN) affiliated to CPN-UML for his involvement in the deadly assault on reporter Khilanath Dhakal. According to the legal expert, Mr. Basnet needs to appear before the court within 70 days and he can get additional 30 days; practically, he can show up in the court in 90 days following the legal provisions, ‘Gorkhapatra’ of today writes.

Leader of YAN Mahesh Basnet has openly said that Parshuram Basnet has been under his protection and challenged the Home Ministry to arrest him for which CPN-UML leader KP Oli has appreciated Mahesh Basnet for his courage to protect the criminal and bestowed on him the title of ‘a true cadre’ of CPN-UML.

Hearing on the case of the deadly assault on reporter Khilanath Dhakal filed by the Federation of Nepalese Journalists, a single bench of Judge Meghraj Bhattarai has ordered to keep Rohit Koirala and Manojsingh Rai both cadres of YAN involved in the assault on reporter Khilanath Dhakal in custody for further investigations and actions.
