Taking Actions Against Rival Candidates

Issue 38, September 20, 2009

By KTM Metro Reporter In Kathmandu

On September 17, 2009, the meeting of the Central Working Committee of the Nepali Congress is held under Acting President Sushil Koirala in Kathmandu to discuss the report prepared by the Committee on investigating the complaints about the elections for the Constituent Assembly held on April 10, 2008.

The meeting has decided that the memberships of the persons who have been the rival candidates to the official candidates of the Nepali Congress in the elections for the Constituent Assembly, and of the persons who have proposed the names of such rival candidates would be terminated. However, it remains to be seen whether it would be enforced in the real life or not, as some of the villains have been the ministers in the Madhav government with the blessings of the party President Girija Prasad Koirala.

On September 18, 2009, speaking to the anchor of the morning program called ‘Antar Sambad’ of the state-run Radio Nepal, Arjun Narsingh K.C. has said that actually some of such members of Nepali Congress who have engaged actively in defeating the official candidates have been awarded and have become ministers with the blessings of the leader.
