Construction Of Highway Between Kathmandu And Hetauda

November 12, 2013: Nepal Purbadhar Bikash Company Limited (NPBCL) yesterday has held a function to initiate the construction of the 56-km Kathmandu-Kulekhani-Hetauda Highway in Bhimphedi of the Makawanpur district, according to the news posted on the ‘gorkhapatraonline.com’.

 

Chairman of NPBCL Kush Kumar Joshi said that the company has initiated the construction of the highway on the day the company has agreed with the government. He said that the construction has started with a simple function considering the election code of conduct issued by the Election Commission.

 

We have initiated the construction of the highway in cooperation with and the support of all political parties and local people, he said. The highway has nothing to do with any political ideology, he said, that all political parties understand the need of the company for starting the construction even on the eve of the CA election.

 

Joshi said that the construction of the highway will speed up after the CA election. The ambitious project estimated at Rs. 35 billion will be done with the national capital and skills at the initiative of the private sector.

 

"After finishing all procedural, documents-related and preparatory works, our company is proud to announce the beginning of the construction of this nationally-important project," Kush Kumar Joshi, chairman of NPBCL, told Xinhua.

 

The four-lane highway starts at Balkhu in Kathmandu, and it will have three tunnels one each at Chobhar, Kulekhani and Bhaise with a total distance of tunnels of 4.5 km to reach Hetauda.

 

The company has said that this highway will significantly boost the overall economic growth of the corridor, region and the whole country.
