Police Beat Two Journalists In Biratnagar

June 11, 2013: the police and employees of Biratnagar Sub-Metropolitan City have beaten two journalists injuring them. Journalists: Bramhadev Yadav and Kaushal Niraula had gone to collect news of Indigenous, Dalit, and Backward Class Coordination Committee members picketing the Birtanagar Sub-Metropolitan City yesterday, according to gorkhapatraonline.com.

 

The victims said that the police and employees of the Sub-Metropolis thrashed agitators and journalists while the committee members were chanting slogans picketing the Sub-Metropolis from 9:30 am to 12:00 noon by putting forth 13-point demands.

 

Yadav is correspondent of Popular FM, Inaruwa, Sunsari and Nepali Patra, Kathmandu, and Niraula is working at Tarai Television and Makalu FM, Biratnagar. The journalists have been taken to local hospital for treatment.

 

Different organizations have condemned the inhumane behavior of the police and employees of the Sub-Metropolitan City and demanded actions against the guilty, according to the RSS news posted on ‘gorkhapatraonline.com.’
