President Yadav For Institutionalizing Democracy

Issue 10, March 07, 2010

BY KTM Metro Reporter in Kathmandu

March 6, 2010: speaking at the function held to release book on Nepali Congress Leader Late Gajendra Narayan Singh at the presidential residence in Kathmandu on March 5, 2010, President Dr. Ram Baran Yada has said that Nepal and India have set up democracy almost simultaneously about sixty years ago; India has held fifteen general elections and has institutionalized democracy but Nepal has been struggling to institutionalize democracy.

Nepal could not institutionalize democracy because Nepal is having the president such as Dr. Ram Baran Yadav that has abused his authority and violated the basic principles of democracy directly writing a letter to the then army chief, and shamelessly still staying in the position of the President. How could Nepal institutionalize democracy in such a situation?
