Two Top US Officials Visiting Nepal

February 7, 2012: Two top American officials are traveling to South Asia for visiting Bangladesh, India, Nepal and Sri Lanka to hold talks on a host of issues with government and civil society leaders, Deccan chronicle reports quoting the statement of the US State Department. The US Administration’s top man for South and Central Asia Robert Blake, and the top American official on human rights issues Maria Otero are traveling to India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Nepal starting on February 12, 2012. They will hold talks with the government officials and civil society leaders on issues such as education and youth programs, human trafficking and peace, accountability and reconciliation processes.
Otero and Blake will start off their South Asia visit from Sri Lanka.
Otero will travel to Kathmandu for a two-day visit (February 15-16), where she will meet with government and civil society leaders to discuss a number of bilateral and regional issues including the peace process in Nepal and rule of law, steps to combat trafficking in persons, and youth engagement.
Blake will travel to Bangladesh, where he will stay from February 14-16 and participate in a series of education and university events. On February 14, Blake will attend the Edward M. Kennedy Commemoration at the Dhaka University.
