Vice-premier of China Wang Yang In Nepal

KTM Metro Reporter

August 15, 2017

Kathmandu: Vice-premier of State Council of People’s Republic of China, Mr Wang Yang arrived in Nepal yesterday afternoon. He is visiting Nepal for four days. He came form Pakistan with is an entourage, and going back on August 17, 2017. He would hold bilateral talks between Nepal and China, and met with the prime minister, and the president, too.

Vice-premier Wang appreciated the Nepal’s neutral stand on the face-off at Doklam between China and India. The direct confrontation between the two Asian giants has been after the Indian army overstepped at Doklam: the border area between Bhutan and China without even informing Bhutan to stop the ongoing road construction on the Chinese side of the border. Bhutan also has taken a neutral stand on this issue as other South Asian countries did.

The standoff has been the failure of the foreign policy of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi that has been caught in the snare of the American and Israeli intelligence agencies to stop the Chinese One Belt One Road program, and to mitigate the rise of China as a super power, some experts in the international relations stated. Modi had a good start of his foreign policy on the neighboring countries but on the half way to his first term of office, he has taken a U-turn spoiling the diplomatic relations with almost all the south Asian neighbors. Modi has put on hold the SAARC convention to isolate Pakistan, and intensified the repression in Kashmir.

China has been very patience to face the Indian Army at Doklam, and followed the matured foreign policy. So, nothing undesirable has happened so far. China wants the peaceful trade among the neighbors and other countries in the world for the benefits of all parties involved. China has been waiting for India to withdraw its army from Doklam.

Bhutan has been nervous about the Indian activities in its territory. India has not even informed Bhutan on entering the Bhutanese territory not to mention consulting with it. It is an embarrassment of incredible scale to the Bhutanese administration. Bhutan could talk its border problem with the neighbors and even defend its territory. So, if Bhutan is a sovereign nation, then India needs to honor Bhutan as an independent nation no matter how small it is.
