Nepali Congress sets its Election Target

On March 07, 2008, the Nepali Congress (NC) launched an election campaign in Kathmandu. Addressing the election rally held at New Baneswore, Kathmandu, one of the candidates and Vice-president of the NC Prakash Man Singh said that the NC should win majority seats in the Constituent Assembly otherwise the new constitution and the federal republic in the making would not be strong enough according to “The Rising Nepal” of March 08, 2008. Another NC leader Narahari Acharya the candidate nominated for the constituency No. 5 said that the nation was to witness a decisive and important role of the NC in institutionalizing the democratic norms and values through the CA.

The NC entrusted its sister organization called Nepal Students Union (NSU) the responsibility for coordinating the campaigns all over the country in partnership with other affiliated bodies. The NSU is organizing an election campaign in Pokhara on the March 10. President of NSU Pradeep Poudel said that the NC has started the campaign from the capital to ensure peace and democracy through the CA.
