Restriction On Number Of Reporters To Cover Chinese PM’s Nepal Visit

Issue 51, December 18, 2011

By KTM Metro Reporter

December 11, 2011: the Federation of Nepalese Journalists (FNJ) has been concerned with the restriction on a number of reporters to cover the Chinese Prime Minister Wen Jiabao’ s Nepal visit. The government of Nepal under the pressure of the Chinese dignitary has decided to limit the number of reporters to cover the state visit of the Chinese authority to three that also to the employees of the state-run media.

The FNJ has been upset by the government’s decision on not giving the independent reporters access to the events the Chinese dignitary attends. However, the spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has assured the FNJ of allowing some independent reporters to cover the visit of the Chinese Prime minister depending on the number of Chinese reports come with the dignitary.
