Acting President Sushil Koirala Says Maoists Disrupting Democracy

Issue 40, October 4, 2009

By KTM Metro Reporter In Kathmandu

In Nepalgunj, on September 30, 2009, Acting President Sushil Koirala has said that the Maoists has been disrupting democracy in Nepal according to the 7:00 AM morning news aired by the state-run Radio Nepal on October 1, 2009.

What is the meaning of democracy for the Nepali Congress leaders and Acting President Sushil Koirala is anybody’s guess. If we believe democracy means the rule of law then neither the Nepali Congress nor its leaders are democratic. We have seen that except for a few of the Nepali Congress leaders, most of the Nepali Congress leaders including Acting President Sushil Koirala strongly believe that the violation of the Interim Constitution of Nepal of 2007 by the ceremonial President is a constitutional. How could Nepalis believe Acting President Sushil Koirala talking about democracy? The ceremonial President under oath needed to safeguard the Interim Constitutional but shamefully violated the Interim Constitution.
