Peace Process In The Move

January 2, 2012: the Army Integration Special Committee (AISC) yesterday has approved an action plan prepared and presented by its secretariat with some amendments and decided to start the voluntary retirement of the Maoist combatants within a week and complete it in 12 to13 days, ‘The Rising Nepal’ of today writes.

The government will provide the retiring combatants with 50 per cent of the total amount to be given to them through the state owned commercial banks. Each combatants needs to open his or her account in one of the three banks such as Nepal Bank, Rastriya Banijya Bank and Agriculture Development Bank for the government to deposit the 50% of the total amount each of the combatants receives.

The government has decided to provide the voluntarily retiring combatants with Rs. 500,000 to 800,000 depending on the positions they have held in the People’s Liberation Army in two installments. In total 9,500 out of 19,500 combatants opted to voluntarily retire; and 6,500 will continue their services in an especial unit of the Nepal Army.

AISC also has decided to provide each retired combatant with Rs 2,000 for going to Terai, Rs 5,000 for going to hills, and Rs 8,000 for going to mountains as the travel expenses for going to their homes.
