Defense Minister’s Arms Shopping

March 24, 2010: Minister for Defense Bidhya Bhandari has visited the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) training center at Gullin on Tuesday, March 23, 2010. Currently, she is in China for a nine-day long official visit. She has left Kathmandu for China on March 22, 2010. She is accompanied by Secretary to Ministry of Defense Nabin Ghimire, Press Advisor to the Ministry Subash Devkota, Major General of Nepal Army Nepal Bhusan Chand and Brigadier General Pawan Bahadur Pandey.

She says that she has a list of arms she wants to acquire from China. She says they are non-lethal but how any arms could be non-lethal, as they are made for killing the people. In addition, how she would be able to acquire the non-lethal arms without incurring the wrath of the Indian authorities.

She also had been in India for acquiring arms and ammunition from India recently. She has been going around for acquiring arms and ammunitions. So, it is not surprising that she is deadly against the peace process and wants to assist Madhav Nepal in continuing his administration.
