Election for a New Prime Minister

On May 23, 2009, Speaker Subhas Nembang has declared Madhav Kumar Nepal: a joint candidate of the Nepali Congress and Communist Party of Nepal-Unified Marxist and Leninist elected unopposed as he has been the only candidate for the position of Prime Minister in the parliament.

The United Communist Party of Nepal-Maoist that holds 238 seats in the 601-member parliament has boycotted the election for a Prime Minister saying it has been the ploy to form a puppet government of the army and foreigners.

The US Department of State has issued a travel warning to the US citizens stating political violence remains a problem in Nepal after the fall of the Maoist-led government from power, and urges American citizens to obtain updated security information before traveling according to Nepalnews.com ia May 23 09

A bomb went off at the Church of Assumption at Dhobighat on Saturday morning, May 23, 2009 killing two persons wounding several people.
