Prime Minister Induct 10 New Ministers Into His Cabinet

Issue 32, August 07, 2011

By KTM Metro Reporter

August 1, 2011: Prime Minister Jhalanath Khanal today evening has administered the oath of office and secrecy to 9 new ministers out of 24 candidates for ministers put forward by the UCPN-Maoist and one minister by Madheshi People’s Right Forum (MPRF).

Despite the opposition of the Standing Committee of his party and of the NC that has been holding the House session hostage demanding his resignation, Prime Minister Khanal has inducted 10 ministers to his cabinet to neutralize the wrath of his partner leaders of the UCPN-Maoist.

Narayankaji Shrestha leads the UCPN-Maoist team of ministers and takes the office of Deputy Prime Minister holding the portfolio of the Home Ministry.

After the oath-taking ceremony held at the official residence of the president, Prime Minister Khanal has held a press conference and has said that he would resign from the office by August 13, 2011 if the Maoists do not be serious about the peace process, and has called on the NC leaders to cooperate on completing the peace process.
