US Ambassador Meets With Vice-chairman Of UCPN-Maoist

May 14, 2010: US Ambassador to Nepal Scott H DeLisi has met with one of the Vice-chairmen of UCPN-Maoist Narayan Kaji Shrestha ‘Prakash’ at the Shrestha’s residence, Jhamsikhel, Lalitpur on Thursday afternoon, May 13, 2010. Vice-chairman Shreshta has quoted the ambassador that the US is ready to cooperate with the consensus government led by the Maoists on all the matters. Vice-chairman Shrestha has said that the US ambassador has shown concern for the current political deadlock; to this, Vice-chairman has said that his party has been working hard to build consensus among the political parties being flexible to the extent possible. Concerning the US diplomat’s query about the extension of the term of the Constituent Assembly, the Vice-chairman has said that the Constituent Assembly is the agenda of his party, so would not let it dissolve before achieving its goal of concluding the peace process and promulgating a new constitution.
