Illegal Logging Under Ministerial Protection

July 26, 2010: speaking at a press meet held by Press Chautari in Dhorahi of Dang in western Nepal today, Chairperson of the Parliamentary Committee on Natural Resources Shanta Chaudhary has said that Minister for Forest Deepak Bohora and other ministry officials have been responsible for the massive deforestation that is currently taking place across the country causing huge environmental deterioration and loss of country's biodiversity; Minister Bohora has been providing political protection and immunity to the people involved in illegal cutting of trees in various community forests of the country, his political party activists, officials of the Department of Forests including the District Forest Officer and representatives of the Community Forest Users Group have also been equally involved in the scam according to the Nepalnews.com
According to the political economists, Nepalis could not find any positive things done by the Madhav Government during the last 13 months, as Prime Minister Madhav Nepal has been bullying the rule of law. In addition, Deepak Bohora had been the minister of the Panchayat regime that had been notorious for corruption and misrule. So, these guys Madhav Nepal and Bohora must have out done the ministers of the Panchayat regime in corruption and misrule in Nepal.
