August 24, 2010: a plane operated by the Agni Air Pvt Ltd has crashed near Shikharpur village about 50 miles (80 kilometers) south of Katmandu in Nepal today. The German-built Dornier turboprop airplane with 11 passengers and three crewmembers has flown to Lukla: the nearest airport to the Everest Base Camp. It could not land there due to the monsoon rains and clouds so it has turned back to Kathmandu but the pilot finds he cannot land in Kathmandu too, as it has also thick cover of clouds; so he radioes to the air controller in Kathmandu stating he is going to land in Simra: the nearest airport, and turns his plane to South but a few minutes later, the air communication breaks and obviously the planes crashes.
