Consensus Politics and Co-work Crucial

Issue 33, August 16, 2009

By KTM Metro Reporter in Kathmandu

On August 14, 2009, speaking at the inaugural function of the second national conference of the Democratic University Teachers’ Association, Nepali Congress (NC) President Girija Prasad Koirala has said that the consensus politics and co-working among the political parties are essential; the Maoists should not use the consensus politics and co-working as the political strategy if they do they would face the consequences Tamils have faced in Sri Lanka and fundamentalists in Pakistan.

However, NC President Koirala has ignored that Nepalese Maoists are neither the Tamils of Sri Lanka nor the fundamentalists of Pakistan. So, NC President Koirala would be well off not scaring the Nepalis indicating the possibility of a civil war as in Sri Lanka or in Pakistan. Nepalis would not allow anybody to start any war or conflict if any political parties or leaders do then anybody starting such a war or conflict would be defeated.
