Sending Maoist Commander to China for Military Training?

On Thursday, October 23, 2008, speaking at the Constituent Assembly (CA), NC Member Shobhakar Parajuli said that Beijing used to give military training to senior Nepal Army officers potentials to head the Nepal Army in future; this time, Beijing is to train two Nepal Army officers and two civilians including Maoist commander Nanda Kishore Pun “Pasang”. CA Member Parajuli said that Defense Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa ‘Badal’ worked out this plan during his recent visit to China. He charged the government led by the Maoist of promoting the PLA commander to the Chief of Nepal Army.

Pasang was a former Deputy Commander of People’s Liberation Army (PLA) and has been the commander of PLA since Prime Minister Prachanda relinquished the position of Commander of the PLA.
