Decisions Made By Cabinet Meeting On Thursday

September 9, 2011: Prime Minister Dr. Baburam Bhattarai has held a cabinet meeting yesterday. Minister for Communication and Information Jayaprakash Prasad Gupta has even complained that the cabinet meeting has not been held keeping pending the appointments to the vacant offices at the constitutional bodies and the polishing of bills for tabling at the parliament.

The cabinet in its Thursday meeting has made decision on appointing Deputy Prime Minister Narayankaji Shrestha ‘Prakash’ to the spokesman for the government, Dipendra Bahadur Chhetri to the office of Vice-chairman of National Planning Commission, Janak Shah and Dr. Shiva Kumar Raya to the office of members.

Former Prime Minister Prachanda had appointed Dipendra Bahadur Chhetri to the office of the governor of the Central Bank of Nepal called Nepal Rastra Bank. Then, Madhav Nepal had fired him from the office.

The cabinet has made decision on appointing Devendra Poudel to the office of a political advisor to the Prime Minister, and Ram Rijan Yadav to the press advisor.

The government has endorsed the visit of Prime Minister Dr. Bhattarai to New York with a 13-member team to participate in the UN general assembly. The Prime Minister is scheduled to leave Kathmandu for New York on September 19, and to be back on September 24.

The cabinet also has decided to amend the previous faulty decision of the cabinet on the so-called national dress of Nepal.
