March 12, 2011: a group of Chinese Volunteer teachers teaching Chinese language to Nepalese students have left Kathmandu after completing their teaching assignment in Nepal, the Chinese state-run news agency Xinhua reports.

Nepalese students learning Chinese language have held a farewell party to the teachers in Kathmandu. Talking to Xinhua today, one of the organizers of the farewell party Niranjan Tiwari has said that he has held the event to express gratitude of the Nepalese student to the hardworking Chinese teachers for their teaching in Nepal. He has said that the volunteer teachers from China are enthusiastic and very hardworking.

Nepalese students learning Chinese language have set up a "Chinese corner" in May 2008 to improve their Chinese. Some Chinese volunteer teachers visit the ‘corner’ every Saturday to help the Nepalese students brush up on the Chinese language.

"We have few chances to practice our Chinese before but after we formed the Chinese corner then we got one place and opportunity to practice and improve our Chinese," he said.

A Chinese volunteer teacher in Nepal Huo Jian Tao has said that he has been here for five years and that he loves this country, has taught Chinese to more than 10,000 Nepalis since 2005.

In view of the increasing number of Chinese tourists visiting Nepal, Nepalis need to learn Chinese language to cater the needs of the Chinese tourists. The number of Chinese tourists will be ever growing one as the economy of China has been growing very fast.
