Iran Successfully Launched Missiles

On July 09, 2008, Iran successfully test-fired several missiles including a new version of the Shahab-3 that could hit targets at 2,000 kilometer (1,250 miles) away. Iran first tested a Shahab-3 in November 2006.

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was for wiping out the map of Israel from the world map. A commander of the Revolutionary Guards, Hossein Salami has threatened to strike back at Tel Aviv and the United States interests if they attacked Iran.

A spokesman for Prime Minister Ehud Olmert of Israel said that the Iranian nuclear program and the Iranian ballistic missile program were not only the grave concern for Israel but also for the entire international community.

Deputy White House press secretary, US, Gordon Johndroe said that Iran's development of ballistic missiles was a violation of United Nations Security Council resolutions.

The Group-8 leaders at the meeting in Japan urged Iran to suspend uranium enrichment.
