On August 18, 2009, Indian Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Mrs. Panit Kaura has welcomed Nepalese Prime Minister Madhav Nepal at the Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi. Prime Minister Madhav Nepal has gone to India for a five-day formal visit.
On the same day, Prime Minister Madhav Nepal has met with Leader of Bharatiya Janata Party Arun Jetali, Leader of the Communist Party of India-Marxist Sitaram Yechury and other leaders and has talks with them about the bilateral relations.
In the evening, Prime Minister Madhav Nepal has interacted with the Nepalese community at the program held at the Nepalese embassy in New Delhi.
Foreign Minister Sujata Koirala supposed to be the member of the Prime Minister’s visit team did not show at the International Airport in Kathmandu to accompany the Prime Minister to India. Nepalese foreign ministry officials have given the health reason for Miss Koirala not showing up in the visit team. However, the speculations are that she must have boasted of coming back to India as the Deputy Prime Minister of Nepal when she visited India prior to the Prime Minister’s visit. However, Prime Minister Madhav Nepal refused to make her the Deputy Prime Minister even after the Nepali Congress leaders requested the Prime Minister for it.
