SAARC Ministerial-level Meeting In Colombo

August 31, 2013: sixth meeting of the finance ministers of the countries of the South Asian Association of Regional Cooperation (SAARC) has started off in Colombo, Sri Lanka yesterday, according to the RSS news on ‘gorkhapatraonline.com’.

 

The participating finance ministers are from eight SAARC countries such as Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka, according to the Nepali Embassy in Colombo.

 

Speaking at the meeting, International Monitoring Assistance and Finance and Planning Deputy Minister of Sri Lanka Dr. Sarath Amunugama stressed the need for the unity of the SARRC member countries to strengthen the relations among them.

 

SAARC Secretary General Ahmed Saleem urged the finance ministers to review the financial activities of the respective countries in view of changes occurring in the global economy.

 

The meeting of the finance ministers is to finalize the draft on investment promotion and security for promoting long-term capital investment in the South Asia. The finance ministers also will focus on how to keep South Asia safe from the global economic crisis.
