House Approval For Submitting 11th Amendment Bill

November 25, 2011: the House has approved the government seeking for submitting the 11th amendment bill on amending the Interim Constitution of Nepal of 2007 for extending the term of the Constituent Assembly (CA) for six months. The term of the CA is expiring on November 30, 2011. The government had registered the 11th amendment bill at the secretariat of the House on November 18, 2011.

The parliamentary leader of the RPP-N put forward a motion against the 11th amendment bill but the majority votes of the parliamentarians rejected it.

Lawmakers have started off the discussion on the 11th amendment bill. The UCPN-Maoist and the UDMF: the Madheshi front have been for extending the term of the CA for six months where as the NC and CPN-UML have been for extending only for three months.
