High-profile Allegedly Criminal Paras Shah Remains In Police Custody

December 15, 2010: high-profile allegedly criminal former crown prince Paras Shah infamous for his criminal activities in the past remains in the police custody in Chitwan for three days for inquiry and investigation into the firing at the son-in-law Rubel Chaudhary of Deputy Prime Minister Sujata Koirala at the Tiger Tops resort in Chitwan on Saturday night of December 11, 2010.

Speaking at the parliamentary Public Account Committee, officiating Prime Minister Madhav Nepal has said that he has ordered his Home Minister Bhim Rawal to take actions against former crown prince Paras Shah for firing in the air targeting at the son-in-law of the Deputy Prime Minister, the state-run newspaper ‘The Rising Nepal’ reports.

A team of police led by police chief of Gandaki Zone Senior Superintendent of Police Keshav Adhikari have arrested Paras at the Fulbari Resort in Pokhara and then, the Police have airlifted him to Chitwan for questioning and investing his involvement in firing the high-profile son-in-law and his wife at the Tiger Tops Resort in Chitwan on the Saturday night. The police have lodged him at the Police Training Centre in Bharatpur under a tight security, and he will remain there for four days; the police have arrested Paras under the Public Offence Act and registered a case under the Act at the District Administration Office, Chitwan following the direct instructions; Home Minister Bhim Rawal has said that Shah was stripped of the security guard, from ‘above’ according to ‘The Rising Nepal’.

Members of the loyalist party called Rastriya Prajatantra Party-Nepal (RPP-Nepal) have come out to the streets of Kathmandu to demonstrate against the arrest of their boss Paras Shah; the Police have arrested some of the demonstrators.

Speaking at his party meeting held in Hetauda, Chairman of RPP-Nepal Kamal Thapa has condemned the arrest of former crown prince Paras Shah on his alleged involvement in the incident at Tiger Tops Resort in Chitwan on Saturday night, and further said that the visa of Rubel (son-in-law of Deputy Prime minister Sujata Koirala) has expired but has continued to stay on in Nepal engaging in some illegal activities, ‘The Himalayan Times’ online reports.

The police have prepared to charge the high-profile Paras Shah of illegal possession of a firearm and an attempted murder. According to the local newspaper ‘ghatna ra bichar’ Paras has told the reporter of this newspaper from Pokhara that he has neither fired gunshots nor has admitted the incident on online. Paras has consulted the lawyers before giving in to the police at Fulbari Resort in Pokhara on Tuesday, December 14, 2010.
