Priority Of A New Government

Issue 06, February 06, 2011

By KTM Metro Reporter

February 5, 2011: talking to reporters at his Dallu residence on Friday, February 4, 2011, Prime Minister-elect Jhalanath Khanal has said that his first priority is the completion of peace process and the writing of a new constitution, and he will include all political parties in his new government, ‘The Rising Nepal’ of today writes. He has urged the NC and UDMF to join his government.

He has said that both India and China have been pleased with his election to the Prime Minister and the international community is extending support for him.

Khanal said, "The first round of council of ministers will be formed immediately after he takes the oath of office and secrecy. I will begin the work from the right away. Even the process of integration of Maoist fighters will be expedited.”

"I will try to extend majority government into a national unity government with common minimum consensus. I will give common minimum programs to all parties to reach the consensus. I am hopeful they will support the new government," he said.

Speaking at a press meet held by the Press Union of Kaski on Friday, February 4, 2011, NC President Sushil Koirala has said that his party will not join the government of Chairman of CPN-UML Jhalnath Khanal, rather will sit on the opposition bench and play a constructive opposition role in the ongoing peace process and writing of a new constitution.

Koirala said, "My party will support the government for the preparation of a new constitution within the stipulated time, integration and rehabilitation of the Maoist combatants and for logical conclusion of the peace process."

Prime Minister-elect Jhalanath Khanal has held the election to a new prime minister hostage for eight months on the pretext of forming a new consensus government. However, he has failed in forming a consensus government even after eight months. He could have been elected eight months ago if he has agreed to form a collation with the Maoists as he has done now. So, he is one of the failed leaders for Nepalis as he has failed in doing any good to the people but has served his own interest. Now, he can hang his picture along with other pictures of the former prime ministers, as Mahdav Nepal has once told him.
