Blacktopping Expanded Roads In Kathmandu

February 29, 2012: at the meeting of the officials of the concerned line agencies at his office on Monday, Prime Minister Dr Baburam Bhattarai has instructed them to expedite the blacktopping of the newly expanded road sections between Krishan Pauroti and Ratopool, Tinkune and Maitighar, and Dilli Bazaar and Baluwatar in Kathmandu within mid-May 2012, ‘The Rising Nepal’ of today writes.

In order not to slack the expansion of the roads in Kathmandu, Prime Minister Dr Bhattarai instructed the responsible officials to make a calendar of operation of various work to be done before completing the blacktopping. The officials of Ministry of Energy have to shift the electricity poles, the Ministry of Information and Communications the telephone poles to the safe places then only blacktopping of roads will be possible. The responsible officials have planned to complete all these work including the blacktopping by mid-May 2012. To this end, a taskforce comprising the secretary to Energy Ministry, the secretary to Information and Communications Ministry, and general managers of Nepal Electricity Authority and Nepal Telecom has been set up.
