Keeping Inherited Assets Safe

Issue 25, June 22, 2008

By KTM Metro Reporter in Kathmandu

The former king, Gyanendra in a press brief on June 11, 2008 said that he did not transferred all the assets and property he inherited as a king to his name but institutionalized them for safekeeping. Now, it reveals that he had transferred Rs 220 million worth of the commercial bank shares owned by the then-crown Prince Dipendra and his brother Nirajan to the name of his daughter Prerna. It took for the Nepal Trust set up for managing the assets and property of slain king Birendra and his family members for the welfare of the Nepalis, six months before it could get the shares back from Prerna.
