By KTM Metro Reporter in Kathmandu

On Sunday, August 30, 2009, members of the Committee on Protest Against Appointing Indian Priests have padlocked the office of the Pashupati Area Development Fund and offices under it protesting the appointment of Indian priests at the temple to Lord Pashupati in Kathmandu according to the state-run newspaper ‘Gorkhapatra’ of August 31, 2009.

Protestors have been demanding the appointment of qualified Nepalis to the positions of the priests at the temple to Lord Pashupati based on the open completion, and also have been demanding to make the offerings transparent and deposit the amount in the state treasury.

On Saturday, August 29, 2009, a group of artists, university teachers, legal professionals and other civil society members have set up a Committee on Protest Against Appointing Indian Priests under the coordination of Dr. Rishi Prasad Sharma.
