By KTM Metro Reporter in Kathmandu

January 5, 2010: the government has said that release of the ineligible combatants from the cantonments starts off on January 7, and make them available vocational trainings of their choice provided by the UN and other donor agencies; Maoists would not rehire them for any paramilitary wing. However, Maoist representative on the Army Integration Special Committee Indrajit Rai has said that the UCPN-Maoist would take care of the combatants out of the cantonments and the government and the UCPN-Maoist have not made any agreement on this matter. If everything goes as planned the release of all ineligible combatants will complete within 33 days. The representatives of the government and the UCPN-Maoist have signed an action plan on releasing the ineligible combatants from the cantonments in December 2009.
