President Koirala Sick

On Sunday, December 07, 2008, while flying back on a helicopter from western Nepal after addressing a mass public meeting held by his party as a part of creating awareness of the Maoists’ authoritarian rule, President of Nepali Congress Girija Prasad Koirala had difficulty in breathing.

Immediately upon arrival at the International Airport in Kathmandu, President Koirala was put on oxygen and rushed him to the Shahid Gangalal National Heart Center at Maharajgunj.

A team of doctors headed by Dr Bhagwan Koirala has been attending President Koirala at the hospital. They found the lower half of the right lung of President Koirala has a bout of pneumonia. He will stay on in the hospital for a few days.

Prime Minister Prachanda and Finance Minister Dr. Baburam Bhattarai visited Shahid Gangalal National Heart Center to see Koirala’s health conditions and assured him of the support for his treatment.
