The office of the president has said that Indian Foreign Secretary Nirupama Rao has made a courtesy call on President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav at his official residence, Shital Niwas, today. At the meeting, they have talked about the matters concerning the bilateral relations between Nepal and India, mutual interests and cooperation.

After visiting the president, Indian Foreign Secretary, Nirupama Rao has met with House Speaker Subas Nemwang at the latter's office in Singha Durbar today. At the meeting, they have also talked about the constitution-making process, the peace process, federalism and the form of legislature in Nepal, and friendly relations between Nepal and India, the state-run news agency RSS writes quoting the Parliament Secretariat.

Indian foreign secretary Nirupama Rao has met with Prime Minister Madhav Nepal at his official residence, Baluwatar today evening and they have talked about the relations between Nepal and India. “The Prime Minister asked to resume the Indian assistances which were agreed during his India visit in August 2009. In response, Rao expressed her concern for the removal of the double taxation for the Indian investors in Nepal,” ‘The Himalayan Times’ writes quoting Rajan Bhattarai, foreign affairs advisor to the prime minister.

“Rao also has expressed her concern on situation of the peace process after the United Nations Mission in Nepal (UNMIN)’s exit. The PM assured her that all of the tasks preformed by the UNMIN have been handed over to the special committee secretariat and a program to hand over the tasks to committee is scheduled for January 22 in Shaktikhor for the same.”

At the same time, Chairman of UCPN-Maoist Prachanda has met with officiating Prime minister Madhav Nepal at the latter's office today, drawing his attention to the Indian media report on the Indian government resuming the supply of lethal arms to the Nepal Army according to IANS. If it is true then it certainly violates the Comprehensive Peace Agreement, UCPN-Maoist and the Government has reached in 2006. On Monday, January 17, 2011, the Indian government has official denied the supply of arms to Nepal stating the media report is not true.
