Koirala Strongly Reacted to Ban Ki-moon’s Report On Peace Process In Nepal

January 16, 2010: talking to the representatives of Germany, UK, Denmark, Finland, Norway, France and the European Union at his residence in Kathmandu, Nobel Peace Prize claimant and President of Nepali Congress Girija Prasad Koirala has strongly reacted to the UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon’s report on the status of peace process in Nepal saying it has not reflected the reality on the ground. In his report UN Secretary General Ban has said that the peace process in Nepal has been in danger due to the increasing mistrust among the political leaders.

NC President Koirala has said to the European envoys that the peace process has not been in crisis as stated by the UN Secretary General in his report to the Security Council but would complete rationally. NC President Koirala has also told the envoys that the High Level Political Mechanism (HLPM) set up for steering the peace process to a logical end is scheduled to meet on January 18 and would initiate work to clear the hurdles in the way of the peace process.

At the same time, Permanent Representative of Nepal to the United Nations Gyan Chandra Acharya has apprised the UN Security Council (UNSC) of the progress in the peace process and writing of a new constitution in Nepal on Friday, January 15, 2010 according to the Nepalnews.com.
