April 16, 2012: NC and CPN-UML leaders want Prime Minister Dr. Baburam Bhattarai bring them the power on a platter, which Prime Minister Bhattarai said he would not do rather he had consolidate power cementing the bond of UCPN-Maoist with the UDMF despite the efforts of the NC and CPN-UML to break the bond.
Speaking at the Reporters Club in Kathmandu, NC and CPN-UML leaders said that the NC and CPN-UML would not join the current government and urged the Prime Minister to enforce the seven-point deal signed off on November 1, 2011, ‘The Rising Nepal’ of today writes.
UCPN-Maoist leaders have urged the NC and CPN-UML to join the current government to facilitate the constitution writing stating it was not the time for changing the government, as all political parties need to focus their efforts on completing the constitution writing.
NC leader Dr. Ram Saran Mahat said that the government was setting a new record of promoting corruption, so, his party would not become a part of the corrupt government joining it. "The government should step down and pave the way for a unity government," he said, "The Prime Minister should support the NC to form a consensus government before promulgating a new constitution."
CPN-UML leader Pradeep Gyawali said that his party would also not join the current government at the existing circumstances. "If the government annuls the four-point deal reached with United Democratic Madhesi Front (UMF), then CPN-UML can think about joining the current government," ‘The Rising Nepal’ of today quotes Mr. Gyawali.
