Nepal And China Sign Off MoU On Boosting Tourism

December 18, 2012: Tourism officials of Nepal and China today in Lhasa signed off a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on jointly boosting tourism in both the countries, according to the Xinhua: the Chinese state-run news agency.
The sixth session of the China-Nepal Tourism Joint Coordinating Committee was held in Lhasa, capital of Tibet Autonomous Region yesterday. The two sides have agreed to promote tourism and cooperation, and open up the ports and resume the direct passenger land transport between Lhasa and Kathmandu: capital of Nepal.
Officials of the Tibet Tourism Bureau said Tibet and Nepal agreed on developing tourism resources, and strengthening tourism cooperation between the two countries, as such cooperation would be of a great significance for mutual benefit.
Nepal has seen a steady rise in the Chinese tourists since it became a tourism destination for Chinese citizens in 2001.
