Firing at Private Secretary of PM

On Monday, February 9, 2009, at about 7:00 P.M. taking the advantage of the power-cut, a group of people wearing masks fired at Shakti Bahadur Basnet: private secretary of Prime Minister at Koteswor, Kathmandu while climbing down from his car and moving to his home. He was with the Prime Minister at the mass rally in Phidim and returning home. He is also the politburo member of the Unified Communist Party of Nepal-Maoist (UCPN-Maoist).
Mr. Basnet has been undergoing treatment at B & B Hospital at Gwarko, Lalitpur. He is out of danger and recuperating well according to the doctors involved in the treatment.
