More Women Candidates Than Men For Proportional Representation

November 10, 2013: according to the information given by Spokesman for Election Commission Birbahadur Rai, the number of women candidates for the proportional representation in a new CA submitted by the political parties in the sealed envelopes is 50.03% women and 49.97% men, the news in the ‘gorkhapatra of today says.

 

Political parties such as UCPN-Maoist, MPRF-Nepal, RPP, Social People’s Party, Federal Social Party, and United Green Organization have seconded more women candidates than men for the proportional representation. NC and CPN-UML also have seconded almost 50% women candidates for the proportional representation.

 

UCPN-Maoist and other communist parties have given the priority to the Madheshis, ethnic groups, Khas, and underprivileged women for the proportional representation in a new CA.
