Minister of State Karima Begum Apologizes
By KTM Metro Reporter in Kathmandu
On December 15, 2009, in a statement, Minster of State for Agriculture and Cooperative Karima Begum has apologized to the public for hitting Chief District Officer (CDO) of the Parsa District Durga Prasad Bhandari according to the news report by the state-run newspaper ‘Gorkhapatra’ of December 16, 2009. The State Minister had hit CDO breaking his glasses for not sending a vehicle of her choice for her use on November 10, 2009 provoking all state civil employees to protest against her rude behavior and demand the government to fire her.
After more than a month of continuous pressure of the state civil employees and human rights activities, the State Minister has apologized and has saved the face of the Madhav administration. She has been persistently trying to cover up her felony counter charging the CDO of misbehaving her. Her lie could not withstand the pubic pressure on the government and has ultimately accepted her public offense.
