By KTM Metro Reporter in Kathmandu

April 27, 2010: U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs Robert O. Blake, Jr. has arrived in Nepal on April 25, 2010 on the way to Bhutan for attending the 16th SAARC summit to be held on April 28-29, 2010, as an observer. He has met with Prime Minister Madhav Nepal and the opposition leader Prachanda to understand the latest political developments in Nepal. He has said that there is no alternative to the consensus politics.

He has also said that UCPN-Maoist Prachanda has assured him of the movement for ‘peace and constitution’ the Maoists are going to launch will be peaceful, and of any other activities will also be peaceful.

Mr. Blake, Jr. has said that the US wants to see the sustainable peace, a new constitution on time, strengthening of democracy and preservation of human rights in Nepal; so, the Nepalese political leaders need to work on completing the peace process integrating the two armies into one; the peace process has moved quite ahead, so, it needs to be completed to the logical end following the Nepalese people’s aspiration for it.
