Kathmandu: Speaking at the reception the Nepalese Embassy held in Beijing in his honor on Tuesday, June 19, 2018, Prime Minister Oli said, “My dream of Prosperous Nepal, Happy Nepalis is not just a dream but a mandate received from the people of Nepal, and we have no choice but to achieve it, within a stipulated time-frame,” the news on http://therisingnepal.org.np/news/24293 quoted the Prime Minister Oli. To this end, he called upon Chinese businessmen and entrepreneurs to come together with the Nepalis in the journey of common development and shared prosperity, the news continues also as follow.

Prime Minister KP Oli has said that Nepal and China has a long history of relations; both countries had given the birth of great personalities such as Shakyamuni Buddha in Nepal and Confucius in China.

The teachings of these great men of both Nepal and China have been the common heritage of the two countries. They have tolerance, compassion, moderation and harmony. Having similar cultural norms and values, Nepal and China have always stood together at the time of need in the past; and they together achieved successes in their missions; and they would therefore continue to work together in the future for common development and everlasting peace and prosperity in a spirit of mutual trust, friendship and understanding, and close co-operation and collaboration, the news stated.

Prime Minister Oli also shared the fond memories of his first visit to China in 2016 when Nepal and China agreed to place bilateral relations on a higher pedestal.

The rapid and phenomenal development of transportation technology has brought profound changes in the contemporary society; so, transportation plays a significant role in the economy of every country, whether the countries are developed or developing ones. So, Nepal has given the high priority to develop the transport networks within the country and across the border. “I believe railway connectivity in particular is of vital importance to a landlocked country in order to reduce the transport and transit costs, diversify international trade and transit, and promote tourism and service industries of the economy. Therefore, with a view to improve connectivity and trade, Nepal and China agreed in principle to develop the Trans Himalayan Railroad networks during my first visit to China in March 2016,” the news on http://therisingnepal.org.np/news/24293 quoted the Prime Minister Oli.

Nepal has committed to transform the understanding reached with China on this matter into the reality of the cross-border railway infrastructure to mark a new era in the Nepal-China friendship and bilateral co-operation; and Nepal and China are also committed to developing multidimensional connectivity networks of roadways, airways, communications, and energy distribution lines, Prime Minister Oli said.

While Nepal is one of the world’s most fascinating destinations for tourists to visit because of its cultural diversity, natural beauty and adventure tourism whereas China has the largest number of outbound visitors; so, Nepal could reap the benefits of Chinese visiting Nepal even if a small percentage of Chinese tourists visiting worldwide visit Nepal, too, Prime Minister Oli said.

Prime Minister Oli opined that both Nepal and China should revive the Southern Silk Road networks, and boost their economies for mutual benefits; they should revamp the robust economic exchanges between them, and create opportunities of jobs and businesses for the people of both countries.

Agriculture and industrial development through technology transfer are important areas for the Nepal-China co-operation, which will create jobs for the young people and improve the rural livelihoods that have been depending on agriculture, forest products, and off-season handicraft work, Prime Minister Oli stated.

Prime Minister Oli opined that developing clean energy is one of the most potential sectors for Nepal-China co-operation; so, Chinese entrepreneurs need to take the advantage of these vast investment opportunities in the power sector for mutual benefits deploying their cutting-edge technologies.
