Nepal Police Hold Six Tibetans

Issue 29, July 17, 2011

By KTM Metro Reporter

July 14, 2011: the Nepal Police have held six Tibetans crossing the border to Nepal in the Dolakha district. They are of 16 to 27 ages and are on the way to Dharmashala, India to pay homage to their spiritual leader Dalai Lama.

Following the gentlemanly agreement, the Government of Nepal is to give free passage to the Tibetans going to Dharmashala but currently, under the pressure of the Chinese authorities, the Nepal Police have been indiscriminately holding the Tibetans crossing border to Nepal and turning over to the Chinese authority.

According to the Wikileaks, the Chinese authorities have been paying the Nepal Police for catching the Tibetans passing through Nepal. So, catching Tibetans means good money for the Nepal Police.
