Import of Indian Cement Totally Stopped

Kathmandu: the information officer at the Nepalgunj Custom Office has said that the import of Indian cement has gradually decreased since the circular received on checking the quality of Indian cement on May 31, 2017, and has totally stopped on July 16, 2017, the news in the “artha bazaar” section of “gorkhapatra” stated today.

 

The Custom Office needs to send the cement sample to Kathmandu for the laboratory test to check its quality, and after the lab test, the result comes to the Custom Office. It takes 16 days.

 

The local businessman has stated that the quality of Nepalese cement is better than Indian and the price is also lower; so, the demand for the Indian cement has been decreasing. He also said that Nepal has been self-sufficient in cement; so, no shortage of cement is felt in Nepal even after the halt of import of Indian cement, according to the news.
