On Wednesday, March 11, 2009, Nepali Congress President Girija Prasad Koirala with his daughter Sujata left Kathmandu for New Delhi ostensibly for health checkups. Before leaving Kathmandu, President Koirala told the reporters that he did not care about what the rumor was about his India visit but he was not going to meet Gyanendra Shah, and said that he could meet him here in Nepal if he wanted to. However, President Koirala would meet with Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, opposition leader Lal Krishna Adwani, Congress leader Soniya Gandhi, Samajwadi Party leader Mulayam Singh Yadav, BJP Leader Rajnath Singh and Minister for Foreign affairs Pranab Mukherjee according to the local Nepalese media.

On Wednesday, March 11, 2009, the talks between the government team and the team of the Tharus ended without any conclusive results. Both the parties reached an agreement on amending the Interim Constitution and the ordinance to remove the Tharus and other ethnic groups from the list of Madheshis. However, the government team could not agree on making representation of all ethnic groups in all state affairs in proportion to their population. The protest of Tharus continued causing shutdown of regular lives in terai.

On March 12, 2009, the state-run Radio Nepal said that Prime Minister Prachanda assured industrialists and entrepreneurs of the government not seeking sources of incomes if invested in hydropower, physical infrastructure and other productive sectors. The business community is very happy about it.

The spokesperson for the state-owned Nepal Oil Corporation told the reporters that the government assured it of the armed police escorting its fuel tankers to Kathmandu and other destinations to ensure the regular supply of fuels.
