Prachanda Returns From China

On October 19, former Prime Minister Prachanda has returned to Nepal from China after a weeklong visit he has made to China at the invitation of the Chinese. Upon return at the International airport in Kathmandu, speaking to the reporters, Prachanda has said that his visit to China has strengthened the relations between the two countries and it will not adversely affect the relations with India. Prachanda has said that the Chinese leaders have been concerned very much with the current ongoing peace process and the writing of a new constitution. The Chinese have also been concerned with the Tibetan exiles in Nepal protesting against the Chinese rule in Tibet.
Prachanda has met with President of China and General Secretary of the Chinese Communist Party Hu Jintao and other high level officials. Prachanda has also visited the birthplace of Mao Zedong.
Prachanda has taken hardliner Mohan Vaidya ‘Kiran’ with him to China probably to familiarize him with how China has developed economically being liberal and opening the country to the capitalist investors.
