Fourth Day Of Shutdown Of Nepal

May 5, 2010: today, the Maoist cadres have been for blocking the ministers from going to work at the State secretariat called Singhdurbar in Kathmandu but most of the ministers have sneaked into their workplaces before dawn; the Maoist cadres have said that they would not let them come out of their offices.

Today, in Bhaktapur, the Maoist cadres have said that the ‘youth force’ cadres have attempted to provoke the peaceful rally and fired three rounds of shots injuring one of the cadres. They infiltrated into the Maoist cadres and attempted to provoke them according to the Maoist cadres. The ‘youth force’ cadres have denied firing shots. The ‘youth force’ cadres have been in Bhaktapur to counter the market shutdown of the Maoist cadres.

Yesterday night, two armed policemen riding a motor cycle have killed a Maoist cadre and injured two more at Kalanki in Kathmandu apparently in an accident but the Maoists have charged them with murder and turned them over to the police.

Yesterday, supporters of the Nevah State came out on the streets in Lalitpur in support of the Maoists’ movement for ‘peace and constitution’ and assembled at Pulchoki for a corner meeting. Speaking to the TV reporter, leaders of the Nevah State have said that they would be on the streets until the movement for ‘peace and constitution’ would be complete.

Today, coming out on the streets, people in Kirtipur have joined the movement for ‘peace and constitution’.

Yesterday, at Satungal and Naikap in Kathmandu, the local people have countered the Maoists’ market shutdown according to the state-run Radio Nepal but the Maoist cadres have said that the NC and CPN-UML cadres have attempted to counter the peaceful rally of the Maoist cadres.

The state-run media have reported that the Maoist cadres are returning home en mass, and the Home Ministry is thinking to help them in going home. The Maoist leaders have denied that their cadres have gone home rather local people have started joining the movement for ‘peace and constitution’.

Yesterday, the Maoist cadres have formed a human chain around the 27 km long ring road in Kathmandu; the Maoist leaders have inspected the human chain riding on two pickup trucks. Maoist Chairman Prachanda and his three deputies were on the front in the first pickup and other leaders were on the second pickup.

The Nepalese TV have been showing the UN vehicles taking the monitors of the peaceful rallies held at different sites in Kathmandu.
