On Wednesday, October 03, 2007, Sanghiya Ganatantrik Rastriya Morcha (Federal Republican National Front) consisting of six ethnic and Madheshi groups including Limbuwan, Khumbuwan, Tamsaling groups and the Madhesi Janaadhikar Forum has called for shutting down eastern Nepal for an indefinite period demanding proportional representation of all ethnic, Madheshi and other minority Nepalis in a constituent assembly that will craft a new constitution. The Front people have also been demanding to declare Nepal a republic, and restructure the state into a federal state with autonomy to ethnic and Madheshi people. The protestors shut down vehicle traffic on the roads and the highway, educational institutions and the markets.
