Development Cooperation Between Nepal And Norway

September 27, 2013: On behalf of Nepal, Secretary to the Ministry of Finance Shanta Raj Subedi and on behalf of Norway, Ambassador Alf Arne Ramslien signed off the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on the Five-year Development Cooperation from 2013 to 2017, according to the news on the ’gorkhapatraonline.com.’

 

The development cooperation focuses mainly on the key areas such as democracy and inclusive governance, Education and Energy. The development cooperation is aligned to the 13th Periodic Plan of 2013-2015 that has the national development policy and the Millennium Developments Goals.

 

The development cooperation is for contributing to the transparency of governance, rule of law, consolidation of democracy, aid effectiveness and other developmental issues.

 

The bilateral cooperation will also be expanded on development of hydropower, rural electrification and universal access to sustainable energy and effective implementation of the Nepal's School Sector Reform Program and its successive plans, stated the press statement released after the signing of the MOU.
